HAPPY LABOR DAY / WEEKEND From LilacsNDreams!

I know things have been a lot different this year with the COVID 19. Seasonal events, holidays, gatherings, schools closing and now openings, weddings, some who have been lost, and so much more! Social distancing has to be considered with almost everything. Festivities haven’t been quite as fun as they normally are to us.

I want to wish everyone a HAPPY LABOR DAY! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that many were able to enjoy this long weekend. Have a wonderful day with all that you do. Enjoy, have fun, and be safe everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving Season Holiday Give Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

Welcome to LilcsNDreams! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and for some it will be a very big day with family, friends, those special to us, etc. May I ask that we also keep those in mind who can not celebrate like those who are fortunate to celebrate this day. Our military, police, some of our veterans, the homeless, and many others some of us are not aware of. 

Generally our family has an open door policy . . . . family, friends, someone we know who will be alone, and etc are all invited. We always make plenty of food. If we have about an idea of about how many to maybe expect we make sure there is enough to serve everyone. It’s a pleasure to share this time with everyone that we can. I am so thankful that we are able to do this. 

Have fun, enjoy, be safe in your travels, take time with your travels for some who have weather conditions to contend with, and please remember the things you are thankful for. Enjoy this special day everyone!

Christmas Holiday Handmade DIY Repurposed Home Decor

Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Christmas Holiday Handmade DIY Repurposed Home Decor. Christmas is a fun time with home decor, and all the fun things we can do. You can buy locally, online, or better yet some of your items you can revise to fit with what you want. That is something I enjoy doing too!

Last week I showed you some picture frames I got from the Dollar Tree Store. I took some simple black frames, and removed the backing, and the glass. I then painted the frames white. Nothing fancy with the painting just a simple white. I then added some decoration to each piece. Some ribbon bows, letter snowflake paper clip, and some ornaments. The second frame I did not have completed fully with my last posting. I have completed it, and changed a bit what I was going to use with it. 

Below you will see 3 pictures of the arrangement that I made using those frames that I hand crafted with. The window that you see in the middle of the frames was made by someone else who signed it, and had donated this one along with a few others to the thrift store. I picked it up because it was cute, and handmade. Wasn't sure what, and where I was going to put it. Tonight it came together for me as you will see. 

This picture shows the arrangement that I had grouped together on one of our walls in the dining room of our home. All 3 pieces have been handmade, or revised to make this arrangement. 

One of the picture frames that I had painted white, added a blue ribbon bow made by me along with a couple of tags for ornaments. I also clipped a letter snowflake on the bottom of the bow.

This is the second frame that I completed which was also painted white. I added the red and white ribbon bow I made to the bottom of the frame. I then added some ornaments to this piece too. 


I love my vintage collectibles, and I enjoy crafting with different things too. Some things I craft with might be with new pieces, and sometimes they might be with pieces that I have found thrifting or that I have had on hand for a while too. It's a good feeling to complete pieces, and be able to show them in our home. Sometimes pieces will be offered for sale as well too.

Happy 4th of July America!

Happy 4th of July to All!

Yesterday I spent the day going to base to get our son, and bring him home for the weekend. So many soldiers in uniform, and in their civilian clothes too. So many of them there, and that was just the one base out of many that we have through out the united states. 

One of the duties of my son is he has funeral detail which is for all the fallen soldiers who are brought home to the area he is in. Anyway, he was gonna get off base early yesterday because his sergeant felt they deserved a break, and wanted to cut them loose for the weekend. Then.....our son text me right outside of base that he would not be released till about 5 p.m. ....2 hours later. Ok, that is fine, it's the army, and things happen. A few minutes later he sent me another text saying that he was "getting promoted today". WooHoo! Something he was kind of waiting on, and was starting to think he was overlooked. So, when it was announced him, and his sergeant were a bit surprised as they had not been notified prior to this. So, the day ended well for our son before he left base yesterday. He was given a certificate for this accomplishment, and of course was happy too.

So, today is the 4th of July and I wish you all well during the festivities, gatherings, and etc. Please be safe. I also ask that if you see someone from the military today, someone being active now, a veteran, and so on....please shake their hand, thank them for their services, salute them, but show them how we are thankful for what they are doing for us. Those not able to be home as they are across seas please say a prayer for them. These men, and women are fighting for our rights, and freedoms of today for "US". And, remember those who have fallen for us as well. Take just a moment to be proud of our freedoms, but to also be thankful for what we have by those who fought for "US". Valentines Day is February 14 What Will You Be Doing

Valentines Day is February 14, What Will You Be Doing on this festive day? Valentines Day is on a Thursday this year. Time is coming fast, and is actually here in about 2 weeks. So, do you have any big plans for this day? Any celebrations that you will be attending? Are you running some online sales with your shops for this day?

This day is fast approaching for those who also do online sales, and offer such treasures to many in search of things red, with hearts, something personable, vintage collectibles, handmade, repurposed, and just all sorts of things being offered for this Holiday of Love. Besides the traditional colors of red people also like to have things in soft pastel colors of maybe pink, lilacs, and blue. Sometimes the same is with bolder colors too. 

On this particular Holiday of Love I shall be in South Carolina attending our son's graduation from his Army Basic Training. It is a choice he has made to join with the army, he is liking it and happy with his choice, and he is proud of what he is doing. This is one time in many years that my husband, and I shall be traveling together for an event. 

There are some who also do not do much for this particular day. Just another day which is nothing wrong with that. Whatever it is you are doing, attending, or for sales I hope you are all prepared and ready for it. Kind of nice to have a break with some of these smaller holidays too, Don't you think?

HAPPY NEW YEAR ! ! from LilacsNDreams ! !

Hello everyone! I have missed all of you, and my blog this past week. I want to apologize to everyone, and let you know that you have not been forgotten. On Christmas Day due to complications my Father was air lifted to the hospital, in ICU, and I have been there since then. Last night...Sunday....we just got home to take care of things. 

I had to come by here to let you all know I was thinking of you, and my blog/site, and hoping all of you had a wonderful Christmas too! Here is to a New Year, new plans, new goals, and wishing the best to everyone! Have you set some new goals for 2013? You are so welcome to share with us here your ideas, and thoughts.

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas Everyone From LilacsNDreams!

Hello, hello, hello, and how is everyone doing? WOW! Just a few more days, and christmas is officially here for us. Is everyone ready for this? I have most of my things done, house is pretty much in order for everyone to arrive, and stay. Busy, busy, busy. I will be ready for a long break after this season though. Time to slow it down, and work on some projects too.

I did get a chance to stop at a local store of ours that has relocated into a new building. Did it more, or less to see how the bigger place was, look around a bit, and see if their prices had changed much with this new building. Pictured you will see a Big Jar I found with the lid, has the rope & Santa decoration around the neck of the jar, and inside the jar the strand of red lights came with it too. I just could not refuse this piece, and love it on my kitchen counter top. Yep, got home I checked to make sure the lights worked, cleaned the jar out, cleaned the lid, and lit this baby up. When I got to the counter is when I found out that all christmas items were 50%. So, for $3.00+ I could not complain with this item. 

Anyway, I do believe I have all the food for our dinners we will have. Now, wish me luck in the morning as I have to get up extremely early due to the snow we all of a sudden are getting here. Snow, snow, and more snow. It hasn't quit, but yet oddly enough there are a few areas I can still see some of our grass peeking through. I just hope we don't get too much so I can get through it in the morning. Living on a farm someone was usually here to run the tractors, and scoop the snow. No one here right now, and am hoping I can get through it till I get back home. Picking son up from airport as he is on his leave for holiday till the 3rd. Daughter, and grand baby here by Sat. morning. Dinner on Sunday, and Dinner, left overs, and some other goodies brought in for a day of family again. 

Making my list of what items I still need. Not sure where my head has been, but I have to wrap gifts, and haven't gotten the wrapping paper yet! Plenty of tape, but no paper...LOL:) I do hope this finds everyone doing well, and everything is being done in your preparations for the christmas season as well. Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone! Here it is the day before Thanksgiving. Many will have already been on the road traveling to some where, there will be some making preparations to leave tonight, others will be making all kinds of food and goodies.....Hmmm! Come tomorrow it will be a day of relaxation, spending time with family and friends, some will be doing volunteer work, and hopefully everyone will have some way of being able to celebrate this day, and giving thanks. 

I have many things that I am thankful for, and the list could carry on. I am most thankful for my family, my friends, and that I woke up this morning to enjoy another beautiful day with others. Hello, and Welcome back everyone to LilacsNDreams! I LOVE blogs, I enjoy visiting other blogs sooo much, I enjoy being inspired by others, and I also love to share about others as well. One of the blogs that I have been following through Bloglovin is called A Beautiful Mess. They are great there! Share things about them, share things about what they like, they are informative, and it is a comforting place to visit. Makes me jealous:) I would recommend stopping by to see what they all offer, and to check out their 'New' look that they have too. It is simple there, easy to navigate around, and you are welcome to leave a comment there as well too. So, when you get a chance stop by to see these 2 ladies who are friends, and have come together doing this. It's fun, and can be a learning experience as well:)

Well, here we are. The weekend of the 4th of July which by the way the 4th falls on Wednesday this next week. Any big plans anyone? Not for me here. I hope to maybe get some more things done around the home...finish painting another coat onto something in my son's closet, and maybe start cleaning the floors up a bit more too upstairs. Contractors haven't done it, and I am tired of it, so I guess I shall do it. Hmmm....maybe I can find some more garage sales, or maybe I will drive to a couple of thrift stores too. Not real sure, and will see what my mood will be waking up tomorrow:)

     The American flag does not fly because the wind moves past it . . . The American flag flies from the last breath of each military member who has died serving it.  Americans don't fight because they hate what's in front of them . . . They fight because they Love what's behind them. 

Again, while celebrations of today continue for all of us, and all of what we believe in. Please, take a moment to remember those men, and women fallen. Also, remember those men, and women who are still serving today too. Bless you all, and have a wonderful Memorial Day!:)
