Blogs Blogspot Blogging Are Social Media Tools

Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Blogs, Blogspot, and Blogging are Social Media Tools also. When we work with our blogs, websites, selling platforms, etc. we know to use some Social Media Tools to promote ourselves, and to have us better seen with this worldwide internet we all use. Blogs, Blogger, Blogspot, Blogging, and such are also considered Social Media Tools that we can use for these purposes as well.

There are many places out there that you can use for blogs, and to blog with. Please remember this as you read through this today.

Blogs and Blogging

Wordpress      Wordpress is a popular platform for anyone. A Blogger who writes, or maybe a photographer who wants to put their porfolio out there. With wordpress at anytime you can upgrade, and get your own domain name. Here other wordpress users can either like, see, and reblog your posts which will leave you with the potential of more followers, and readers.

Blogger or Blogspot      This is one of the most well known platforms. It is backed by Google which makes it trustworthy, and a reliable platform. It is also simple to start. The Blog publishing service allows private blogs along with multi user blogs as well.

Tumblr      This place has a social networking website with a blogging platform that allows their users to post to a short term blog. Its mostly visuals, images, videos and music.

Weebly      This place has a lot of unique, and modern themes to start your blog off with for looking fresh. They also offer ecommerce, and iPhone application for posting while you're on the go. It is easy linking to Social Media. This site is suppose to be dummy free, and is suppose to be made as easy as possible for you to dive right into blogging.

We have some choices for platforms to use for our Blogs which is great. Everyone has their own preferences of how to blog, and where you blog as well. This is perfect, and great because what one person might like or finds to work for them might not work for others. Some have found with their own websites that they can also add their blog with it too. Over time with market places, websites, and social networks blogs have been added to them as it is considered a form of using Social Media Tools.

I know there are more platforms out there that I have not mentioned for you to consider. Some will be free, and some you will pay for. Consider the favorite phrase that you often hear "Google It"  Doing this you can find more that way too. Better yet, if you know of one you would like to share with us please feel free to do so. If you have a blog there please include your link here that we all may visit with you as well.

Hope you enjoyed your visit today. Thanks so much for stopping by, and visiting with LilacsNDreams! See you again soon.

Upcycling Reimagining Repurposing Bookcase Paint and Trim

Upcycling Reimagining Repurposing Bookcase Coffee Table Paint and Trim!

Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Wow! Where did this week go to? Halloween has passed, our first weekend for November is now by us, and the presidential elections are now past us too. Christmas will soon be here, and everyone is busy with Holiday preparations, shopping, filling our online shops, and making time for being creative too.

I wish I would have copied it over here for ya'll to read, but I read a statement from Kovels little newsletter that I get periodically. This little letter shares about auctions, and what some things of interest have sold for, is informational, helps people with identifying marks and things with their items, and etc. In this particular letter received today they had made a comment about Recyling. They had noted how recycling is a trend. I believe them about this too. Through searching on the internet, watching what others share, and even your physical brick & mortar shops feature this within their shops that is often shared on Facebook too.

This is something I found shared on Facebook that you will be viewing below. Have you ever had one of them shelves, or maybe a book case, or some other form of furniture resembling this that you maybe move from room to room, don't want to get rid of it, but yet know there is something else you could do with it? Below the pictures come from Crafty Nest, and from their post they did on Oct. 16, 2012 called Before & After, Blast From the Past . . . Plain Bookshelf = DIY Fancy China Cabinet. In this particular posting they share with you the before, and after of this item. They share with you how they did this piece, where some of the pieces were found, and etc.

Is this not lovely what they did? If you are interested in this DIY project done with this book shelf, give their website a visit for further details.

I hope that you enjoyed this DIY transformation of this book shelf that I am sharing with you by Crafty Nest. I hope it helps you with ideas of what to do with your own pieces, and that maybe this is also inspiring for some of you too.  Repurpose, Upcycle, Recycle, and Reimagine is the trend of today.

Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams, and hope to see you again soon. Take care, and hope this week ends well for you. Have a wonderful weekend. Till the next time . . . .

Presidential Elections For the New President, Obama or Romney

Presidential Elections For New President, Obama or Romney?

Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone! I am sure many of us have been caught up with all the ads, flyers, mail received, and so on for the upcoming election of a President. Today I was gone most of the day with family time before our son leaves for basic training for the army next week. But, when we got home we had the tv on right away, and was watching the Presidential elections as they took place. Generally I like to kind of skip through, visit now and then, and just give the elections a moderate view/thought. This year is a bit different.

Our nation has been going through such a termal with all that has happened to us since our last election. Unemployment, bail outs, foreclosures, debt, insurance, bringing our troops home, gas and fuel, etc, and etc. Many things has happened these past 4 years with President Obama, and of course many questioned if he was the right person for the job again with this term.

I had a hard time in determining which candidate I would favor. I watched the debates more this year, listened to things, and sometimes was concerned that I did not hear Obama really tell of anything new he wanted to do. I heard that he would be doing the same of what he had already done. Oh, sorry, Obamacare which is to go into effect. Then, you have Romney, and like any other electives you will hear good, bad, and some of the skeletons come out from the closets too. I couldn't be sure if he would be the right choice either.

As I had commented to a few people I wish we could vote none of the above since I was so undecided. I was not really sure if either one was a choice I could make. Or, do I go with the thought that we need a change, and vote for someone new?

Boy, the elections were close tonight. Very close, and it was a very close call too. It looks as though Obama will one more time be our President, and lead this country for another term. Sorry, but not exactly sure how I feel about this victory. I have questions as I did before, I worry if it is the right choice like I would have no matter what way it went, and sadly still undecided myself. I hope that Obama was the right choice for this next term, and I pray that we can have a few more better results than we had these past 4 years with him as well.

Did you vote? Are you happy with the decision that was made? What are some feelings with this? Remember, there is no right or wrong answer to questions I ask. Just honest opinions, and everyone being open minded to them as well. No fighting, and play nice everyone:-)

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams, and hope ya'll had a good visit. Take care, and hope to see you again soon.

Why Buy Anything Vintage Collections of Today

Why Buy Anything Vintage, Collections of Today.

Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Have you ever had anyone ask you why would you by vintage. I mean why would you want something that is old, been used, has a history, not new, sometimes needs altering, and when you could buy something new.

Well, when you buy vintage you are getting something that is unique, rare, brings back memories, a piece of history, a treasure, or a keepsake. Also, when you are buying a vintage item you are getting something that cannot be found at every chain store by the thousands too. The items are limited treasures just for you.

Vintage is a product of a specified period of good quality. "They don't make things like they use to" is a statement that is often heard, and is absolutely true!

There are many things that are popular today with vintage shopping. That is why many like shopping thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, and so on. You can get some great prices on vintage pieces. Items often sought after are the vintage clothing, vintage and retro furniture, vintage jewelry, vintage accessories, and vintage home decor. Some of the pieces that are found can also be altered too. Maybe it needs a stitch here and there to sew, some paint touch ups, has a missing part that needs to be replaced or filled in, sometimes a little sanding, putting it back into shape, or sometimes it just needs some TLC with a simple soft wash too.

The styles, the colors, the uniqueness, quality, stability, durability, etc were great then, and are surprisingly sought after in times of today. I have, and always will like vintage myself. I adore the glassware of times past, I like the mannequins or dress forms that you often see, some of the furniture, etc. I enjoy being able to add a piece here, and there into the decor of our home. I have been working on our bedroom a little bit, and am pleased with things I have there in regards to a cedar chest, old chair, a lamp of my grandmothers, the vanity dresser, my grandmother's old jewelry box with some old perfumes that adorn it, and I just love working with it.

So, do you have a special period in time that you like to collect with? What do you favor collecting of vintage? Many vintage pieces are wonderful conversation pieces, don't you think?

Happy Treasure Hunting to all you vintage collectors of things. Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams, and hope to see you again soon. Later...

Social Media Selling and Best Practices

Social Media Selling and Best Practices

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Happy Hump Day to all of you visiting with me today! I know you often see things about Social Media, and there is a lot out there to read about this particular subject too. There are many choices for Social Media. Some use Social Media for ways of advertising their venues, showing links to their shops, so they can have back links to maybe their blogs, keeping in touch with family and friends, meeting new people, learning, sharing, and so many more things.

I have often read about Social Media being an important factor for those who sell. There are many choices we can use for Social Media such as Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and of course our Blogs too. I have recently made a sale that came from my Shoppe Blog page, and of course am thrilled with it too. Feels better than dealing with one of the other venues, and is much more personable dealing with customers too. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. Please read on everyone.

There are some general tips to consider when looking more into Social Media, and putting them into use for your business. 1) Evaluate the available tools before you start 2) Genuinely contribute to the conversation 3) Create a separate account for your business 4) Start small 5) Listen and engage 6) Cross-promote your social media channels 7) Do Not expect instant results.

Whew! I could write a book just about this alone with these tips, and then sharing a little bit about the places mentioned. Actually, there was some good things, and points that came within my Ebay Seller Information that I received. If you click on the link, and follow to that being shared by Ebay you will understand it more, get some good things from it, and hopefully it might help you just a little bit more in knowing what places maybe you should use, where to focus your energy with, and so on. I will note that in this list they did not mention anything about Pinterest, but I would also recommend that as a place to also consider in using with your social media as well. The place is growing, and is slowly expanding out with all that they are doing too.

Over time I have narrowed down which Social Medias I use, which ones I participate with, seen the ones I benefit more with, and which ones are helping me. Everyone will have their own choices, and own opinions of what works. Remember, the choices are yours to make, and use what you are comfortable with, and what you see is working for you.

I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday or Hump Day! Thanks so much for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams, and hope you enjoyed it. See you all again soon. Take care, and have a Happy Day!

Social Networking Social Medias and Ning Groups

Social Networking Social Medias and Ning Groups, Do you belong to them?

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams! How are you doing on this fine Wednesday?

Hey, how many of you like to socialize? We do it with gatherings for coffee, tea parties, when you are out eating, maybe some where having a drink, while shopping we sometimes socialize, we socialize with our hair dressers, and then there might be workshops you attend, and so on. Everywhere we go we like to talk, meet people, and most of all share with those who share the same interests that we have. When we socialize with others we share things that we know, what we heard, some things we have learned, we share techniques, we ask questions, we learn, and even more fun we make new friends too.

If you like to socialize in person why not socialize online too? There are so many places that we can meet people online, share the same interests with others, and it becomes a daily routine in all we do. Many people will use Facebook to keep updated with family, and friends. But, sometimes that is not enough, and we desire to have more. Joining different groups who share some of the same things can be a blast, and very beneficial to all of us too. We do it for pleasure, and many of us will also do it for business as well. Sellers like to have a way to get their names out there for others to see on the wide world of the internet. We like to share our goods that we have to offer, it is interesting to see what others have to offer as well, and yes buyers also like to belong to some of these sites as well. Not only can a buyer see what is being offered, get some ideas of where to shop at, but they can also ask questions of sellers too. Sometimes socializing can give more of a personal touch to things, people can get a better of idea of who you are, and what you do.

There are many places out there for people to belong to, and when you use the search engines you can also find different places as well. Over time I have belonged to many places myself. Yes, I have accounts with Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, and so on. Over time I have found different groups that are with what they call Ning that are like a community of people. I have joined with some who share the things I like to read about, ask about, learn from, get assistance from, ask for advise, and most importantly meeting new people.

Vintage Rising Where Recycling and Creativity Come Alive is a great place to join, and get involved. The community is growing, and has many things going on there to get sellers involved with each other too. I am enjoying watching this place grow, seeing what others have to offer, and to see work that has been done by others too.

The Vintage Village Where Vintage Never Gets Old . . . is a sister site to Vintage Rising, and they both are owned and operated by the same person. Her name is Lora, and many might know her as ElsiesAttic too. Yes, this is a community that deals with people who sell vintage, and antiques. Over time I have also watched this community grow, and come to where it is today with another great group of people there.

With both of these sites they have many things to offer to people of like interests. Learn of different venues that are used by people selling their goods, and what they have to offer. Many times you are able to buy directly from the sellers of these places without having to visit the venues, or their websites that items are listed at.

So, if you like to do a little socializing, a little bit selling, want to share things from your websites, and meet some new people I would suggest visiting with these places. I know there are many other places out there you could choose from, but why not visit with these first to see what they are all about? Give them a try, and if you have any questions don't hesitate in asking them. Lora, and the people she has helping her are great people, and are always willing and able to assist you as well. Don't be afraid to tell them that you heard it from LilacsNDreams

I appreciate you taking the time to visit with LilacsNDreams, and enjoyed you sharing your time with Me. Take care, and hope to see you again soon.

Colors of Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer Seasons Changing

Colors of Fall.......

Colors of Winter.........

Colors of Spring.......

Colors of Summer........

Colors of Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer. Seasons are changing. Which do you favor?

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone! Our weekend is almost here again, and time for me to stop by here, and share with you all something of interest.

Colors of Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. We see this happen all the time, and we just know when the seasons are changing again. With Fall we can relate to the colors of orange, yellows, brown, and of course Halloween. With Winter we associate white, red, green, and Christmas with it. In the Spring we see colors coming back to life with greens, pinks, blues, lilacs, etc. As for summer that is not too far off from spring. But, the colors of summer do take on just a bit different hue with them when that season visits with us.

Right now Fall is upon us. We see the leaves changing, the grass is changing colors, for those states producing crops we are seeing the fields being pulled down. During this time of season we also will see a change with some of the animals. We are seeing more deer, seeing a few racoons, and the birds are also being sensitive to the seasons changing with the weather, and all too.

Soon we will have Halloween to celebrate with. Next will be Thanksgiving, and then Christmas here we come. Depending where you live the weather will also change with your seasons. For Christmas some of us will have snow, and some of us will just have a cooler air to contend with.

Many like when Fall is with us, enjoy the cool down from summer, and are excited for the holidays coming to us. Yes, it is a nice change of pace from summer. My favorite time of seasons changing is with spring. Things are coming back to life, colors are becoming vibrant again, and I adore the pastel colors of this time of year. Pink, Blue, Green, Aqua, and of course Lilacs too. I have also been known to implement colors of pink, and blue into my christmas themes too.

Notice how each change of colors, or change of seasons also changes a mood within us as well. So, what is your favorite Season. Maybe your favorite colors of the season?

Thanks for sharing your time with LilacsNDreams everyone. Always happy to have you visiting with me, and enjoy it as well too. Take care everyone, and see you again soon. Toodles....
