Social Media Tools Use Vintage Collectibles Handmade Crafts Repurpose at LilacsNDreams. Welcome Everyone!

I wanted to touch base a little bit about our Social Networking, and Social Media that we all participate in for pleasure, and many do it for business too. 

I think we can agree the more popular sites we use for our social connections are with Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and LinkedIn too. Keep in mind there are a lot of places out there being used. Remember this is not all of them, and there are others that some use depending on your interest, business you might have involving it, your personal thoughts and feelings, your goals, etc. I hope this will help you a little bit with what you do now, or maybe any personal goals you have. 

FACEBOOK is a social networking service that allows its users to upload pictures, and share text. There is Facebook Messenger that many will use to contact people with, send notices, share things, etc. Facebook Pages are still around. Some use them for maybe a personal blog, use for their business pages, and so on. With Facebook Pages you can collect fans, and followers that can better follow you, and your updates to things too. 

INSTAGRAM has become quite popular to use too. Those accounts can be connected to your Facebook accounts which is good for business. When you can connect some of your social media accounts you can put 1 message, picture, announcements in 1 spot that will share to some of the other accounts. This is good to get backlinks that will refer to your website, blog, business page, and so on. 

PINTEREST is another form of social networking we do by using pin boards. You use a photo sharing technique of things you find of interest which could include vintage collectibles, handmade projects, crafts you’ve done or of what others have done, repurposed projects, blogs, websites, selling platforms, etc. It’s a great way to organize some thoughts, and another way to bookmark things you find of interest too. 

TWITTER is yet another form of social media, and social networking that is used for people to share things. Pictures can be used, usually limited wording, and we seen how it was popular for our former president Donald Trump too. Usually when I share something on Facebook it will also go to twitter too.

LINKEDIN is another social networking sight that does focus a little more with business relations. 

For those who use the internet for selling, or maybe advertising your products Social Networking is something good to use. It’s free unless with some you want to pay a fee to get a little more of what they offer. Keep in mind being involved with social media will help you be seen, or found at times on the internet. Google picks up on things with your use of keywords, use of backlinks, and so on. Connecting everything where you can, or with those that offer that. Keywords, backlinks, and it all works together. Google LilacsNDreams some time. You will see places I’m connected with, and what is maybe working for me. Takes time, patience, and being consistent with it too. Don’t forget that for some it’s their pastime keeping in touch with people, and their interests.

Vintage Wood Letter Blocks Repurposed Crafted Quilt Word

Welcome to LilacsNDreams! I have had a productive busy kind of week. I was able to list a couple of other items with my shop at Etsy. Hubby was in last minute so I did some quick errands with that. I had a sale come through on Friday for me at Etsy in which I got that prepared, and shipped right away. I also was able to get a little crafting time in too! That was enjoyable, and I'm anxious to do more too!

A while back I had found a really small plastic container with a just few old wooden letter blocks in it. I'm not lucky enough to see this often when I am thrifting so naturally I snactched them up right away. Unfortunately, they had been pushed to the side with other craft projects when our son was home on leave for a couple of weeks. Well, during this past week I brought them out, played around with them a bit, course I started to get an idea and went thrifting through some of my own stash of this, that, and what not items. Got the glue out, and I got things put together with my little creative crafting. That is one thing I like about crafting. I always have a general idea of how I want to do things, but somewhere along the way I alter a little bit here, and a little bit there. Or, while I am sitting and waiting on glue to set, and dry my eyes will look around, and create things along the way that I can use with the project at hand. I enjoyed making this project with the letter wood blocks, and ordered more wood letter blocks because I have another idea for something I would like to create. 

With the left top picture it shows the items I set out to work with. With the top right picture it shows the wood letter blocks that I put together before gluing them. The picture below this shows one of those moments I had while I was waiting on glue to dry with the blocks. A little silver bead sat looking at me with one hole in it. The straight pins I wanted to use somewhere with the blocks was set into that hole. Reminded me of a little mini pin cushion. So, I dropped some glue drops on that right away before it got away from me.

The 2 pictures you are seeing below is the completed project that I did. I put wood blocks together spelling QUILT, and then I added different little embellishments to the top of the attached blocks to dress it within the quilting theme. 

I had fun doing this. Things sort of fell into place for me when I got started. I enjoyed it, and got excited with it that I was sharing pictures right away with a friend of mine showing what I was doing. She asked if I was going to do more, if I was keeping this, or will I put it in my Etsy Shop. I did spend time today searching for more wooden blocks at a reasonable price that I can craft with. I found some that will work for the next project. Unfortunately, I checked in on my order and found that the seller is on vacation. I will have to wait a full week before shipment will be done for my purchase. 

Oh, well, I know what to do when those do get here. Guess I'll just have to find another craft to work with, huh? LOL! I have some things sitting here that can be worked on, and shouldn't take me long either. Also, I have some Anchor Hocking Blue Glass Bubble Plates I need to find. They are some where in this room. I seen them when I was organizing things. Now...I can't remember where I put them. Be nice to find those, and get them listed in my shop too.

Candles, Candle Holders, Glass Candle Holders, Painted Candle Holders, Upcycled Candle Holders, Repurposed Candle Holders, DIY Candle Holders, and . . . I like candle holders of all kinds, sizes, and colors. I enjoy buying them new, but mostly I enjoy thrifting for them and making them myself too. When I make changes with my home decor the candle holders will sometimes get a make over too. Although I have some wooden candle holders that were made from others, painted, came from old table legs, pillars, and etc that I will not get rid of. They just find different areas in the home to adorn. 

So, since I like diy candle holders I thought I would share something I had found. This is also on my list to play with, and see what I can create myself as well. What you are viewing is with some family pictures, but you know you could use other pictures as well. Maybe you got a pretty picture of some backyard scenery, mountains, sunsets, and you know. . . things like that. Well, those could also be used too.  Just use whatever images you would truly like to use with this project. You will enjoy this as it is much easier than you think too!

Sometimes you might have a special place in the home where you use only that special china, and where special memories are shared. Along with this sharing of things sometimes candles are lit for these areas. They are also used for special meals as well. How neat to add in these glowing photo luminaries, don't you think?  No matter how traditions have changed over time I still find it really neat to have those flickering lights on the tables during gatherings, when home by myself, and for the just because times too. 

So, find some of your favorite pictures you would like to use for this project. Then you will also need some vellum paper. I have some of that on hand myself, and some of it is colored vellum too. I lack stacking when I find sales with scrapbook stores. Never know when those things can be used, and now is a good time. You might have to experiment with your printers to make sure it will print onto vellum paper. Most inkjet printers should work for this. Now, print out a variety of photos you would like to use. Funny times, serious times, and some of those memories you so enjoy. Horizontal pictures will work best since you need the width to wrap with. 

Next make sure you have some glass jars, or vases that you would like to use for your candle holders. Try to avoid irregular shapes as that can get complicated to work with. Trim the photos to the proper height of the glass you are placing them with. Then, just apply a piece of double sided tape (easy peasy!) Just attach the photo to the tape. For larger containers you will use more than one photo. Apply some washi tape for decoration if you wish too. 

These little luminaries look great in the daylight, sitting on window sills, with table arrangements, and when the light pours through them it will make them naturally glow! How neat, right?

It's Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and soon Christmas. Many of us like to have fun with our home decors, and decorating during this time. Some of us will store buy things to fill our homes, and then there are many of us who wish to be crafty with do it yourself projects.

During this time of year, and with the season we see more emphasis with candle holders. Oh, don't take me wrong these are popular all year long with festivities, weddings, celebrations, and etc. During this time of year we just happen to see a few more of them with all the sweet, and yummy smells that we can get from them. 

Above I have shared a couple of pictures found to demonstrate a little bit of what I would like to share. These are sure to get some of them creative juices going with some wonderful ideas for our homes. If you like the smells of fruits, lemons, limes, artichokes, and etc this is a fun project to do. Really simple for any of us to do as well. Take your favorite fruit, or with Halloween use some small mini pumpkins and ghords. Make sure to get some tea light candles for this, or you could use a little bigger candle too. Cut a hole into the fruit, or vegetable the size of the tea light candle which is commonly used. You can cut a little bigger for just a little bit bigger candle, or maybe a hole the size to hold a taper candle too. Then put the candles in, and light them up! Neat, cute, and wonderfully smelling too. 

Another idea you will see from above is using some cinnamon sticks. Hmm...smell those already! Perfect for this time of year too. You can either glue the cinnamon sticks to the candle, add some twine, and other embellishments too. You could also glue the cinnamon sticks to a candle holder, and then insert a candle. An idea for those who like cinnamon and apples is to maybe glue the sticks to an apple that has had the center cut from it, and then add a tea light candle to that. 

Endless possibilities, inexpensive, and what fun this would be too! Hope this helps with some ideas for this upcoming season, and the holidays.

I often adore lanterns whether they are made of wood, metal, have that beachy look, and some of the simple chandeliers have the same look too. You know some of them timey old time lanterns. I love all the colors that I find, and of course how they are displayed to show giving me more ideas. I truly enjoy looking at them, and consider them till the price tag catches the eye. Go to Pottery Barn to see some of them, and how the simplest of designs can be spendy too. Starting at maybe $19.99 up to $129.00 and more! Like many other times I see something I like, don't want to pay the price, and I know it is time to go to places like the Dollar Tree stores, go out thrifting, junking, and to some how find the pieces I can put together to make this work. 

Upon researching, and spending my time lounging like I generally do . . . when I should be getting projects done . . . I came across some neat tutorials, and ideas of how to make these adorable lanterns myself. One technique I found to be quite interesting, and very easy to do was using picture frames from like the Dollar Tree stores. Yes, picture frames! Takes 4 picture frames sized at least 5 X 7. Now, you can do this project with glass, and without glass too. You can also make these lanterns with stenciled glass, bottoms and tops, you don't have to have either if you don't want to, maybe a bottom with no top, or add some wire to make a wire handle for a hanging chandelier. Neat ideas isn't it?

As you can see the DIY lanterns look just as good as those from Pottery Barn, but of course as noted were done cheaper too.

More DIY Christmas Trees For Holidays and Festivities to see, decorate, make, and what fun!

Welcome back to LilacsNDreams everyone, and hope your week is going well for you this far. Christmas, Holidays, decorations, glitter, lights, and Christmas Trees! They are adorable for all shapes, and sizes. Some store boughten ones are gorgeous, and some of those that are crafted are gorgeous too. Such creativity, and what fun it is!:) So, thought I would share a few more of the crafted trees that I found when doing my post on Monday. Can never share enough ideas, thoughts, and creations right? I enjoy seeing what others do, and it sometimes will help my creative juices to get moving a bit too. 

I have started decorating at home. Small trees everywhere this year. Making room for people that will be here, those coming and going, and so on. I have a small white one on an end table, I have a blue one in our kitchen bay window, I have another white tree I need to decide what to do with it. Of course there are lights on the trees too! I have put out our lighted gifts that we have, have a garland with the light in it to hang in the big doorway to the living room tomorrow. I have a string of green lights I am testing, and found the problem to fix. I also have an idea for our big wreath that usually hangs outside. Since the house has new siding, new wood, and etc I do not feel like damaging anything to hang right now. So, I have come up with another idea that I think will work, and hopefully it is descent enough out tomorrow or Thursday to allow me to do this.

Washi Tape Used For Crafts, Organizing, Creating, and More

 

 Washi Tape Used For Crafts Organizing Creating, and More. This is something that is new to me, and like me you might be asking what is it? Washi Tape is like duct tape, strong as duct tape in some cases, is functional as well as pretty, and is desirable by many who are learning of it. 

It does feel like masking tape, but is very very pretty. It is made of a paper, and not as delicate as you would expect. What is really neat that every where I look you can see how it comes in many patterns, many designs, and many colors too. 

If you check out Pinterest, and enter Washi Tape you will be quite shocked with all the projects that people have shared with using this. It is wonderful for everyday, and decorative use. 

There are many ways to consider in using this tape which would include wrapping gifts. Use wrapping paper, and treat the washi tape as ribbon. You can keep organized with it. In your books, and such it can be used the same way as a highlighter. Use it in scrapbooking, tags, making flowers, use it on your walls for design, and to decorate. I seen samples of it being used on vases, notebooks, and computers too. Many uses for it. 

The cost of a roll of Washi Tape will vary depending on the quality, and the design. In general it can run about $5 a roll. 

This is a picture that I found at Curbly showing a few ways of how the tape was used. Many many ways to consider, and what fun it could be too!

One of the reasons for this post today is because I recently had won a giveaway for this Washi Tape. It looks like I won about 10 rolls, and tags if I remember correctly. I was shocked, surprised, but also excited too. This will be something else for me to play with, and experiment with as well. I had won this give away when I happen to hop over to read a posting over at My Repurposed Life. Very informative place in showing many DIY projects, and a place to learn a little bit from too. Anyway, I stepped into a giveaway there, left a comment with my email address as instructed, and thought nothing more of it. I never win anything. I was soon notified how I had won on the giveaway, and was I excited! Great way for me to get some product to work with, and experiment with too.

So, have any of you used this Washi Tape? If so, what have you done with it, and how did you like it? I know it is not something that is brand new, has been around for about a couple of years or so, but I still had not heard of it till recently. Now, I am seeing many talk about it frequently too. Would love to hear from you about any experience you have had, or share what you have done too.

Hello again, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone. I do hope you all had a great week. I know my days were a bit off with Monday being holiday. Usually how it goes, right? Rest of week was not too bad really. I got items delivered to my sister for her birthday. Early birthday gift given to her. Things changed, came up, and I rushed to get some candles to put into the candle holders I made from the tall glass cylinders, and then added some berry air freshners around those candles in the cylinders too. She loved them, said it smelled good, and she adored the whole arrangement I had put together. By the way, in my post below this you will see a picture of the pink glass bowl, and tall glass candle holders I am referring to.  The last 2 pictures. 

I do hope this finds everyone surviving this week, and having plans for a good weekend. In our neck of the woods is the county fair starting. Not sure if I will go yet, or not. I do like to visit everyone in the building with all the vintage, and antique pieces. But, we will see. Been busy at home with a landlord yesterday working along with the plumber to get some things done. Trying to clean messes from contractors, and such is life, right?:)
