Yesterday was kind of a lazy relaxing day. So, when it was time to consider what to share with everyone I was a little bit stumped, and not quite sure what to share this time. So, I went back through old pictures, looking at past things I’ve done, having memories of things I did, etc. That is when I decided to share a little bit of things I had done over time. The pieces I am sharing have all sold back in time when I started this change of interests for selling. This would be around the time I was getting started with repurposing different pieces, and I was starting to experiment with painting too. I miss some of these pieces, and wish I still had them. I enjoy being able to combine sometimes a vintage piece with another to give it a new life for others to be able to enjoy too.

This is a Federal Glass Bowl Candy Dish Compote Holder I had repurposed, restyled, and upcycled. 

This was a cute, sturdy little piece that I combined 2 pieces of glassware uniting them to make this one compote piece. Many uses for it like a candy dish, candle holder, jewelry dish, catch all, in bathroom with some soaps and things, and the possibilities are endless. I used a gorgeous iridescent clear glass bowl by federal glass. I united it with a glass candle holder with an hexagon shape to make the base/stand for this adorable piece. Both glass pieces were sturdy, and just adorable together! It look store bought.

Now, this is a picture showing some items I found while thrifting back in 2011. Pay more attention to the brown wooden bowls. Those bowls were my first projects that I painted. I used white spray paint, a French blue spray paint, and the pink paint I used was a pink slipper color. It was a trying time to learn to paint with spray paint, what to do so it wouldn’t run, and I also tried a little of distressing with the white and blue bowl compote stands. The other pieces you see I eventually did some plate compote stands with them too. Creativity of uniting pieces is fun, and makes the finished items unique in small ways. Adds a little life, and character to items being repurposed and preserved for new times and uses.

Below you will see a picture that shows the wooden bowls I had painted with the colors mentioned. I was pretty proud of myself, and how they looked when finished. It excited me to do more too!

Hope everyone enjoyed seeing some of my first repurposed, and restyled pieces I made. I haven’t done as much with the compote plate stands like I use to. But, I do dabble a little bit with it yet.

LilacsNDreams Shoppe Page Being Updated on Blog

Hello, and Welcome everyone to LilacsNDreams! Shopping in stores, Online Shopping, Thrift Stores, and so on. We all enjoy shopping them, and we all enjoy bargains too. Online Shopping is a very hard business to deal with, takes a lot of work, a lot of time, and eventually over time depending on what your goals are things can be good for you too.  Yes, having a brick and mortar store is also much work, and that I won't deny. But, there is a bit of difference from the physical to online as we learn over time too.

I am a slow bloomer I guess. I have done Online Sales since 2004 where I first started with Ebay. I enjoyed the hunting of products, finding good deals...some of them stayed home with Me:) But, I always enjoyed shopping, and digging for just the right items to be offered at Ebay to sell. Since then I have moved on. I still sell occasionally with Ebay, but I have moved more products over to Ecrater, Etsy, and some things with Artfire too. Lower fees, better sites, little bit more control of things you can do, and more opportunity as well. As I moved on I also had the need for something else I should be doing. I then got into repurposing, upcycling, recycling, and reusing items to make different pieces for the home. I adore vintage, glassware, pretty things, and have been enjoying what I have done so far with different pieces. I am selective with items found to use, and sometimes I think I am too selective. But, if I would be happy to have it used/displayed with my own home, then I feel it is ready to offer to others as well. 

At some point I thought it would always be a great accomplishment if I could have my own website too. Whew! Has anyone ever really checked into those, what it takes, the cost of things, all the coding, the complications, the different hosts being offered, domains, shopping carts, etc, and etc. It can get really spendy. Well, I am one who has always tried to save a penny where I could, but still have the advantages of what some others might be offering too. I do have a website I have been working with slowly....very slowly really. I have enjoyed working so much with my blog, and what I can do with it. The more I learn, and teach myself the more I enjoy it. As many of you can see at the top I have tabs to different pages I have added with my blog. I did these pages in a way that we could all still interact on them, and that when I wanted to make changes, add things, remove things, and etc....that they would work for what I needed them to do. So, right now I am doing the best way I know to do things, what I have taught myself, and making things simple for everyone too. 

As of today...still a working progress, and things will change as I move along with it. My secondary page to my blog that I focus with is my LilacsNDreams Shoppe. Here I have always shown pictures of items I am offering in my shops, and I leave clickable links for everyone to visit so that they can view more pictures, see more details, and so on. Wasn't trying to hide anything from anyone on this landing page of my blog, my main page here, but I also did not want this to become all about business with my blog either. That is where different pages I wanted were slowly added in for different interests, and to keep some things a bit separate from the next one as well. 

Anyway, I have now started to add buy it now buttons to items I am showing on my Shoppe page. No shopping cart yet, it is all a working progress for me. Learning, trying things out, and looking at shopping carts as well. Paypal offers them, and there are others that also offer them for sites as well. But, for me it is a start, a working progress. If you have any ideas please share them as I am still learning, and many others are also learning as well. Some day (one of my goals) I am hoping to mostly be selling from my Blog/Website, and not having to deal with the extra shops, rules, glitches, and etc. Anyway, till then....have a look, and I hope you enjoy what I have started with so far.

Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone! Glad to have you visiting. I have a confession to make to you. I have a tendency to hoard different pieces of glassware. Some might consider me a hoarder of glassware too. Sorry, but when I see different shapes, sizes, colors, designs, and all that can be done with glassware I sometimes become infatuated with it. 

There is colored glass, clear glass, old glass, textured glass, worn glass, window pains, glass prisms, and so on. Some of these pieces can really have some beautiful reflections that come from it, and oh they are sometimes so sparkly too. Like many other things I also feel from it the moods that some funky glass pieces can add to a space, or a home too. 

When I started seeing more of the glass pieces being upcycled into different things, the more excited I became with it too. I enjoy painting, and doing other creative things too. Yet, I still seem to favor the glassware just a lil bit more.

Glass totems can be made for inside the home, or the outside with your porches and gardens. They are great with glassware being stacked, maybe adding some stones or gems to them, add a figurine, a few flowers, and etc. When making these sort of pieces you need to make sure to use the glue that will work with these items during weather changes. 

I have seen pieces used making bird feeders, pieces made to serve with, used in home decor, weddings, bridal showers, holidays, and given as gifts too. Below are some pictures being shared that I had found of items done with glassware. Most of the pictures came from the Pinterest boards which also had their links to who they came from too. 

Isn't this bird feeder that was made from a blue glass bowl with it's lid, and a glass candle holder just ingenius? I really liked how this turned out, and sorry that I cannot share a link with as it was not available. 

I love seeing glass jars used in many ways, and this is a lovely way to repurpose it, and upcycle it with a little bit of glue, paint, and some other pieces. Why buy an apothecary jar when you can do one that fits more into the decor of your home, and of course the way you would like to see it too?

 Is this not fabulous?! Different pieces of glassware were used, different colors, different designs, and along with it a few of the colored gems were also added to give it a little bit more character of it's own too. This is something that could sit outside on your porch, in your garden, or adorn a place in your home too.

 I just love this idea, and is something I have not come across till now. I do have this one on my list of to do as well. Gonna take a little time, little patience, but is a fabulous piece when it is done too. Always looking for ways to decorate bottles, and this is one of them to consider.

 This is another glass totem that was done with all clear pieces of glass. Different shapes, sizes, and patterns were used. It turned out nicely, and would be a conversational piece to those passing by too.

This is a very simple thing to do, but a clever one to consider as well. Use your wine glasses for drinking, or also use them for decorating your tables, and home with too. Just flip them over, add a flower before setting it to the table, and on the base, or now the top of the glass add your candles. Simple, but yet another creative way to use glassware.

This is a piece that was done by me, and is listed for sale in my shop at Etsy too. I used a vintage green relish dish tray that looks like new with no signs of use to it. I then found a glass candle holder with design, and from home interiors that is in a like new condition too. This piece is fabulous in the sunshine coming through the windows. In fact when the sun hits it just right you can see a few minor different hues with the clear glass too. It will also reflect some of the green from the dish on it as well.

 There is so much more out there on the internet that can be shared involving glassware. Don't forget there is also the vintage collectible pieces that are a treasure to find too. I could carry on, and show you so much more. I would suggest checking with google, or bing and seeing what other treasures you could also adore too.

Happy Monday Everyone, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams. Hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend. Not too bad here. Did get a few things done. Have to watch my listings to see what few things will be offered next. 

Glassware. I enjoy working with it, I enjoy collecting, and sometimes I think I am infatuated with it too. I like many kinds of glassware too. Clear glass, pressed glass, retro glass, vintage glass, colored glass, different glass shapes, designed glass, and etc. I still enjoy collecting glassware for the home, but have also seen other things done with it, and just adore those who reuse, repurpose, and upcycle such pieces with glass. 

Something I have been watching a lot of, and trying to play with a bit on my own too is Glass Totems. These pieces can be made for your gardens, and are beautiful during the season when you have plenty of beautiful sunshine too. Other pieces can also be made for in the home as well. So many possibilities with each piece, and just so many ways to repurpose, upcycle, and reuse glass.  It's amazing the creativity among everyone who shares.

Below I will share 3 pictures I found surfing the internet to give you some ideas. I just adore how the flowers are made to either set on a metal pole, or how they can also be hung on the fence too. Of course if you can hang them on the fence you know they could also be hung inside your homes too. Who would have guessed that a bird feeder could be made? Very nice thought. Also, just how different glassware pieces can come together to make what you see here, or find on the internet too. 

RecreationsInGlass is the artisian who made this, and I found her on Etsy as well too. She has some wonderful ideas, and did some good work with her studio offerings too. 

PearlsVintageGoods is yet another seller I found on Etsy who does things with glassware too. I just adore the glass flowers made by many that are set into pole stands, can hang on your fence, hang in your home, etc. 

This is an adorable bird feeder that was done with some blue glass, and clear glass as well. This I would really like to make myself, but don't have the tools to help me with making the holes in the glass for it to hang. Hmmm, I wonder if maybe I could just make it to also sit like on a table, or something too? Just some ideas, and of course notes I am making too.  Sorry, but I find a place mentioned of where this picture came from to share with you.

Vintage Collectibles Home Decor With Glassware Collections can come from many of the well known glass makers such as Fenton, Westmoreland, Indiana Glass Company, Cambridge Glass, Colonel, and many more. 

Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone! How many of you have a fetish for collections of glassware. Colors, shapes, sizes, vintage collectibles, home decor, dinnerware, drinking, and so much more.  There is a lot out there. I myself like to collect it, and I also like to find pieces that I can reuse with repurposing too. 

Some of the glassware sought after might be opalescent, maybe a milk colored glass that can be white and some soft pastel colors, patterned glass, pressed glass, depression glass, carnival glass, and there is so many beautiful pieces out there to explore. Today many of the patterns, and colors that were developed from designers are not as easily found, and not considered new anymore. Keep in mind over time due to popularities of some of the glass work made that reproductions have also been made too. You can find some pieces that are reasonably priced, and you can find some pieces that are very hard to find, considered rare, and their prices can be quite spendy too.  Know that the prices can fluctuate with different places.

Glass has been around for a very long time, and it is used in many ways too. Some glass is so beautiful when a ray of sunshine hits it showing its design, pattern, iredescent coloring, and a beautiful array of colors it makes you melt, and you find yourself saying awww, oohh, wow, and etc. Glassware is found with home decor, sometimes dinnerware, wine glasses, goblets, drinking glasses, figurines, and in many shapes, forms, and colors. 

When shopping for glassware make sure to check for any imperfections on the pieces. Cracks, chips, crazing, how many imperfections, etc. How bad are the imperfections found can also determine how much the actual piece would be worth in todays market. Sometimes a small chip that is found on the peg foot of a designed bowl will not effect the value of the piece. Yet, if the chip were bigger, maybe discolored, and if there is more than one chip or crack it can also go against the value of the piece found too. 

When shopping for pieces to add to your collections, or to start your collection keep in mind you should do some homework with this as well. Check the internet with places selling vintage collectibles, antiques, or some people also buy used glass pieces to repurpose with too. Check around on the internet with different places, ask questions of some who are with social medias, check with your library books, and sometimes having some of your own books on hand is an advantage too. 

When you are shopping for glassware there are many places to go that you can get pieces to add to your collections. Online sales have been a very good place for people to look at. Some will shop Ecrater, Artfire, Etsy, and Ebay among other online venues too. Some of my favorite places to shop for items myself is with Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, Flea Markets, sometimes a church auction will have things, different auctions that are held in your area, and so on.

Make sure to do your homework, make some notes before you leave to go shopping, get some small pocket sized books to help you that can be carried while shopping, have FUN shopping, enjoy and learn things along the way, and soon you will be putting together a collection that you can take pride in showing to others.
