Hi! Welcome to LilacsNDreams! I am doing something I have been thinking about doing for a while. I researched, and read about places. Would push it off, and then start rethinking it again. I finally decided it was time for me to move on. I have been doing my best to keep a schedule, share topics with everyone of interest, show images, share links, etc. For some reason it just has not been working here with getting views with my posts. I use to get a lot more than I am getting now, would get comments, and now it’s hardly anything. I have some ideas, hopes, and goals, but it just doesn’t seem to be working. I will still have my place here. I have 1 of my domains pointing to it. But, my main .com domain I will be working to have it directed to the next place. 

Yes, it’s an adjustment for me. I was use to things here, sight was easy to roam and do things with my postings, and the next sight I will have to learn a few things. But, it will come to me as I keep working it. So, when you get a chance stop by to see me at LilacsNDreams Blog in a new home that I am working with. Not perfect, but I am doing a little at a time to get things updated, and changed. Wish I could have kept doing my thing here, but sometimes have to be done for the best, right?

*** UPDATE: Ok, been working with word press because LilacsNDreams is there. After playing around today I added another blog page which is not going to do what I wanted it to. Word Press is a learning thing for me for sure! I found I could add another site with my original site there. So, for the blog I now have it set up with New Blog Location  lilacsndreamsblog.wordpress.com

Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Blogs, Blogspot, and Blogging are Social Media Tools also. When we work with our blogs, websites, selling platforms, etc. we know to use some Social Media Tools to promote ourselves, and to have us better seen with this worldwide internet we all use. Blogs, Blogger, Blogspot, Blogging, and such are also considered Social Media Tools that we can use for these purposes as well. 

There are many places out there that you can use for blogs, and to blog with. Please remember this as you read through this today. 

Blogs and Blogging  

Wordpress      Wordpress is a popular platform for anyone. A Blogger who writes, or maybe a photographer who wants to put their porfolio out there. With wordpress at anytime you can upgrade, and get your own domain name. Here other wordpress users can either like, see, and reblog your posts which will leave you with the potential of more followers, and readers. 

Blogger or Blogspot      This is one of the most well known platforms. It is backed by Google which makes it trustworthy, and a reliable platform. It is also simple to start. The Blog publishing service allows private blogs along with multi user blogs as well. 

Tumblr      This place has a social networking website with a blogging platform that allows their users to post to a short term blog. Its mostly visuals, images, videos and music. 

Weebly      This place has a lot of unique, and modern themes to start your blog off with for looking fresh. They also offer ecommerce, and iPhone application for posting while you're on the go. It is easy linking to Social Media. This site is suppose to be dummy free, and is suppose to be made as easy as possible for you to dive right into blogging.  

We have some choices for platforms to use for our Blogs which is great. Everyone has their own preferences of how to blog, and where you blog as well. This is perfect, and great because what one person might like or finds to work for them might not work for others. Some have found with their own websites that they can also add their blog with it too. Over time with market places, websites, and social networks blogs have been added to them as it is considered a form of using Social Media Tools. 

I know there are more platforms out there that I have not mentioned for you to consider. Some will be free, and some you will pay for. Consider the favorite phrase that you often hear "Google It"  Doing this you can find more that way too. Better yet, if you know of one you would like to share with us please feel free to do so. Blogging Represents Your Brand, and Drives Traffic to Your Online Storefront.

Hello there, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Today I will talk a bit about blogging which is something I enjoy doing. I want to share with you how blogging represents your brand for your business, and how it can help drive traffic to your online storefronts. Actually it is good for those who have websites, and is a form of social media that is good to use. 

When you blog you should do it regularly. Remember, if you don't have a business yet this is still good to have for a business that you might have some day. If you don't have any intentions of starting a business I believe it is still good for people to do. As you sit down to write for your blog you will ask, like many do, what is it I want to say? Once you start sharing it only gets better for you. 

When I first started to blog online I had no clue as to what I was doing, what I wanted to say, how to get started, and then nervous if anyone would actually find me to read anything. Getting started can be hard. I didn't think I would really have anything to say, or talk about. Over time ideas would come to me, I would read something that would give me a thought, and I learned to make small notes to myself of these ideas for later uses. 

It can take a while to find your way of what you think you should say, or what you think that maybe people would like to read. Once you get started, once you find your way, you will find that blogging is not as bad as you first thought. You find that the words come pouring through you as you open more to share, and more of you is revealed for others to see you which is good for business too. You will find over time how this helps to reveal your brand. 

If the business you have chosen is meant for you then you will find yourself eating, sleeping, dreaming, and living your brand. So, share it to the world in a conversational style way by using a blog. 

The blog is an ongoing thing in conversations between you, and your readers. People can come to your blog that would like to get to know you, and maybe ask you questions too. It's great when they wish to share things with you, and the other readers who visit. With your blog they can read a full post compared to the short messages with Facebook, or with the 140 characters that can be used at Twitter. 

Don't be offended with people who are not interested in reading. Some people do not like to read which is okay. Your target audience is going to be with those who are online looking for something of substance every time they visit online. This helps those who like to dig a little deeper, and get more of a feel for things by getting to know you. Consider it like writing an email to a good friend of yours which will help you share what others are looking for. 

Some of the traffic that comes to my shop is from my blog. Once in a while I enjoy sharing items that others are offering to help boost a little traffic for them as well. You will find that the blogging community is friendly, engaged, and they are willing to help other bloggers too! Blogging is not like visiting some of the forums that we have with our online storefronts. Some of those forums can get kind of mean, people get rude, and like others I cringe when it happens to me or see it happening to others. 

The blogging community is certainly people who like to share, and are friendly writers. We all look for new stories, some inspirations, and etc. You will also find that they are happy to link with you, tweet, pin, post some of your products in return, and that they enjoy sharing as well. The more that you can share the more your links are put out there, and the more clicks you can get too. It's a revolving circle. 

So, where do you start to blog? If you have your own website sometimes a blog can be made with that. Many will use the free blog from Google known as blogger.  There is also wordpress that many will choose too. Some will start with wordpress.com, and later will switch to the wordpress.org self-hosted site. Keep in mind that you can also get your domain with a place like GoDaddy, and have that directed to your blog with blogger too. That is something I do for Me. So you might ask, which one is better, and what do I choose? Many like wordpress, and there are some that prefer blogger. Here is a little article about blogger vs wordpress. See what is being shared about the 2 places. 

My preference is with blogger as I have a hard time getting around with wordpress. I am not a computer techie person, and blogger was easier for me to work with myself. Who knows, maybe some day I'll grow up more (LOL), and venture over to wordpress. Till then I am with blogger, and have been content with it so far. I like things simple I guess.

Social Media, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Twitter, Blog, LinkedIn for business, pleasure, or both?

Social Media is a phrase often heard, seen, and dealt with today. You have Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, just to name a few. These days everyone seems to be posting to each other, tweeting, and pinning. Hey, even our grand parents are on Facebook now too.  Social Media has become a great way for us all to communicate.

For business Social Media is an excellent source that is a cost effective marketing tool to reach many people with. With just a click of a button you can feature deals, promote products, and just about any brand is using some form of Social Media for all of this. 

• FACEBOOK is a social network service that allows you to upload pictures, and share text.  

• GOOGLE PLUS is another social network that is a new service than Facebook. Here you can also upload pictures, text, and videos that you would like to share with others. You can share things publicly, or with different circles that have been organized by you. 

• PINTEREST is another form of social networking that you will find to be popular. With this site you use pin boards . . . like bookmarking . . . You share things you find of interest like vintage collectibles, handmade, repurposed, upcycled, recipes, blogs, websites, how to, and etc. 

• TWITTER is also considered social networking. Some see great benefits with using this site, and others are still confused by it. Here you do what others refer to as Tweeting things to everyone. These tweets are short, and only about 140 characters long. Read what people are saying, and you can join the conversation that is being shared. 

• BLOG is a platform provided by some places that people use to share thoughts, information, pictures, show links to different things, some use as journals, some use like a diary, and many use for their own personal interests and businesses. You have places like Blogger, Wordpress, Tumblr, and more that are popular by many according to your preference, and your goals. 

• LINKED IN is another social network site that is focused more for business relations. Like many other places on the internet is still growing, changing, and each time becomes better for those who prefer to use this place. 

Keep in mind that there is much more out there for Social Networks that were not mentioned here. The ones I have mentioned above are the ones that appear to be more popular at this time, that have had some great growth, and over time have improved. Like I always tell many people there are many great ones out there that everyone will talk about, and mention. Remember what one likes, or finds to work for them might not be the one for you. Something that you need to test yourself, spend some time with, depending on your goals, and see what is a good fit for you.

Blog Posts, and a Three Step Improvement that you can Use. 

Welcome to LilacsNDreams everyone! You know I like to Blog, and I try to spend time with my Blog as well. Anytime I read something, or learn of something about Blogging I also like to share that with you as well. 

I started out on Google Plus reading an aricle, then I visited a Blog from there, visited another Blog, read another article, and then it kind of came together with a few quick tips I got to share with you. Now, whether you are a blogging pro, or someone who is new starting there is always something to learn to help with improvements for our blog posts. 

So, here are some quick tips that was picked up on, and I wanted to share with all of you. 

1. Write All of Your Ideas Down. This is something I have found to be very useful, and will repeat to others to do as well. You are gonna have some days you will sit down at the computer, sign into your blog, and then it happens. You are blank, no thoughts, lost track of what you were thinking, and the question of what do I do now? I really hate it when this happens too! This is the time that those silly little notes you made about some ideas for blogging with, or actually some of them you thought you would never use, but wrote them down anyway will become helpful to you. So, if you keep a notebook, or use your phones for your notes this would be a perfect time in need to use those ideas. 

2. Add Some Photographs. This is something I do not always do myself as I worry about loading times for everyone when loading my blog pages. I like to share pictures, and when I do I make sure to revise them in sizes to better fit with my blog page, and for loading times too. Even though you might have something totally awesome to post about, and share with everyone. Sometimes the photographs are very welcomed with those postings too. It was suggested that even if you do not have a photograph that goes with the post idea to just throw something in there too. People will like it, and enjoy it. 

3. Make Your Post Attractive. By this I am referring to you giving your readers a chance to respond with your posts. You can post a question at the end of the post asking them how they feel about the post, or even ask them how their day was too. You can always ask their opinions about something as well. This is a great way to get your readers to connect, and to converse with you. I like it because it is always nice having the chance to meet some of my readers, and share with them. I really enjoy it.

Simple Tips For Blogs Bloggers Blogspot, and Wordpress too. 


Blogging like Social Media and Networking has become a bigger, and more popular thing to do. It attracts people, everyone likes to see other ideas, read, learn, they are informative, good promotional tools to use, and just a little bit of everything really. Many want to blog, yet many don't know where to start. Another issue is am I doing this right, how do you know what you are doing is good enough, how long does it take, and so on. All of them wonderful thoughts. 


So, I will share a few ideas with you about blogging that come from me, and actually many other bloggers put together. Please remember that there is no right, or wrong that is shared with you. Just ideas, some thoughts, and things that have been found to be helpful.


Choose a Personal Theme. You are wondering what is meant by this. Consider blogging about what you are most passionate about. It is quite alright to have more than one subject as many of us have more than one passion, or more than one thing we like to spend our time with. Pick themes such as Vintage, Collectibles, Thrifting, Crafts, Handmade, Homemade, Lifestyle, Photography, Writing, and there is a lot out there to choose from. It is best to choose the tings you are passionate about because the love you share for those things will also be seen by others, and they can relate with you as well. 


Keep in mind if you start blogging about what you see others doing your chances are that within a few months you will feel uninspired. You will feel the need for a change, and might become discouraged too. Remember, things all take time, and once you find your niche for blogging it will be beneficial, enjoyable, and can be fun too.


When Blogging Don't Feel the Need to Do It All. You do not have to blog about everything, only what you wish to share. If you are not at all comfortable about sharing your personal life....than don't do it. If maybe you don't like vintage collectibles you do not have to blog about it. The point is with blogging you can give yourself complete control, and you have no obligations of doing what other bloggers are doing. Keep in mind to Do what you Love, Be Confident with it, and with your choices. Others will see this with what you share. Doing less can also be a strength as well too. 


I do recommend that you keep a regular schedule of doing posts on your blogs. Now, don't stress out about this. It's important to choose a schedule that fits with your Lifestyle so you can enjoy creating your posts each, and every week. Keep in mind that consistency is memorable to those who follow, pass through, and like to roam blogs. 

I ensist You Give Yourself Permission to Experiment. Believe me, it is very normal to have kinks for you to work out with in blogging. At first you might keep developing ways, changing your routines, maybe refining the content you are using, and you will do this till you are happy with it. No problem in doing this, and having this happen to you. You don't know till you try, right?:)

You will want to Network, and Make Blog Pals as well too. One place to go to is creating a Bloglovin account to help with some of this. Here you will discover other blogs that you enjoy, can follow with them, and learn some things from them too. Again, there is no right or wrong to this. Enjoy making connections through social networking, and keeping in touch. Helpful to cross promote with friends. Enjoy making some New Friends too!

Practice with Photography, and Develop Your Own Style. With most of the blogs photography can be a big deal. Using photography can help attract others to your blogs. You don't need a fancy camera to do this, or some fancy editing software either. Just start with what you know, and sometimes that is all you need. With my main page of my blog that you always visit I generally don't show much in pictures unless it is something pertaining to the subject at the time of my postings. My pictures for items I refound for vintage, collectibles, resell, repurpose, and etc is found with my other main page here LilacsNDreams Shoppe. It is my preference to keep mostly business kept to that page while with my main page I can share a little bit of everything that I see, learn, found, read, and etc.

These notes to you about blogging are just some simple helpful tips I hope that will help those who are thinking about blogging. What topics to share is always of some concern to many. Me? I keep a book, notepad, paper, or something to make a note on when I have an idea. My Idea Book is what I call it. I make notes of things to try, to maybe talk about, maybe I want to research a topic more in order to share it, and etc. It has been helpful to do this. 

Know that with time your blog will get better. I myself am not an expert. I have learned things over time, and still am learning. I add things, remove things, change things, but it is my blog, and I do what I feel is right for me, and what my purposes are. What I am comfortable with is the proper way. 

My Best Advice to give to everyone who is starting out blogging, or thinking about it.....I will never tell you what to do with your blog. I can only suggest, and share things from time. Blogging is your freedom, a part of you, a part of what you do, and it becomes your creation. 

So enjoy blogging, have fun with blogging, and it really is not as bad as it seems starting out. It seems over whelming because it might be something new, but once you get the feel for it, and find your way of doing things, you will enjoy it very much!

 Blog and Blogging Platforms Are Social Media Tools that are used as well. I apologize in advance as I know some of this seems a bit repeated, but trying to cover everything I am finding, or can think of as well too. Think of some of it as a reminder for our notes. Thanks so much for understanding everyone.

As I have mentioned before, and reminded to all of you there are many platforms out there to Blog with. With that in mind I will mention just a few to you, and if you know of more you would like to add to this discussion, please be so kind as to do so. 

Blogs Blogging Blogland:

Wordpress - There is wordpress.com and remember there is also wordpress.org. It gets confusing, but there is a reason for them having it this way too. One of them is more detailed having a paid domain, some different plug-ins offered which can better assist you. Wordpress is one of the popular blogging tools that is used, and the content management systems that is being used too. 

Blogger or Blogspot - Another popular service platform being used that does allow multi user bloggers. They do have time stamped entries which is nice for referencing. This blog publishing service does allow private blogs, or you can choose to use multi user blogs as well. One advantage to using this service is that it is a Google Tool too.

Tumblr - This service has become more popular over time. Their social networking website has a blogging platform that allows their users to post short form blogs. 

Type Pad - This blogging service can be targeted to the non-technical user. They also provide photo albums, mobile blogging, and it also supports multi authors too.

Weebly - This place is known to many for a free website, but they also include blogging too. Threaded commenting went live in December of 2011. When you comment with a blog post you have the ability to directly respond to other comments, and then having your comment appearing in the line below the original comment. 

Windows Live Writer - Some have mentioned how this is nice to have. It is an offline editor that is to work with all platforms.

Remember, everyone has their own preference as to where they blog, and how they blog. What one person might like, or what can work for them does not necessarily always work for the next person too. That is another reason that choices are good for us to have. I have found some who have their own websites, but have also found the ease of adding a blog to their site as well. You will also notice that some of the Social Networks do have a place to blog, or have added it over time for others to be involved with as well. 

As mentioned this is not all the platforms that are out there for blogging. If you find more please let us know. Choices are a good thing to have to find the one that suits us, and works for us with our own needs.
