Kitchen Splatter Screen Snowman Repurposed Handcrafted DIY

Kitchen Splatter Screen Snowman Repurposed Handcrafted DIY with LilacsNDreams.

Welcome Everyone! Holidays, Christmas, meal planning, decorations, planning activities and gatherings, crafting, and so many things to do for the big day. Also, right after that is the end of the year celebrations too! How you doing with all of this?

This year is different just like the rest of the year has been. We are fully decorated here inside, and out. We are making preparations for the meal to be served. Gonna be kind of big this year with lots of food to serve everyone. One thing that will be different is the gift giving. I do not plan on wrapping any gifts this year. Everyone has been getting things delivered as I put it together what they are to receive. Our biggest thing is being with family, and friends celebrating the day with all kinds of food, sharing laughs, remembering times and those not with us, and so on.

As for crafting I have accumulated things to do to start with. This particular project pictured above was something I have completed...almost. I think I’m going to add a scarf, or maybe some mitten hands. I have to decide that yet. I made this piece from a Dollar Tree splatter guard. I added a white shelf liner to make the face white. I used a pink talis like material making the pink cheeks, and I used black buttons for the eyes and mouth. For the nose I did not remove the handle on the spring protector, but did paint it orange for the snowman nose. I’ve added a child’s black stocking cap to fit. Issue I am dealing with on the hat is I put the eyes to high. They should have been a little lower towards the nose which is making the hat hard to position for a descent look.

I have sooo many more christmas crafts I intend to complete. I have been stocking with supplies I want to use, and my piles are accumulating too. Probably not all of it will be completed by Christmas time which is fine. I hate rushing things, and prefer to take the time to craft. I hope to be offering pieces for sale after I complete a few of them. I will share pictures as I complete some of these things.

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams! Till the next time have fun, enjoy this time of year, and be safe everyone! Toodles!

Merry Christmas Happy Holidays Holiday Fun Collectibles Crafting Handmade

Hello everyone! Welcome to LilacsNDreams! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Holiday Fun!
Sorry I’ve been absent from here. I can say I thought of this place, and everyone visiting often. Some nights I had good intentions of stopping by here, and putting some kind of post here to say Hi, I was still around, etc. Then, I would fall asleep thinking about it. Don’t worry, I got scolded a lot from ME for letting it happen.

Above you will see some pictures from outside the home, and a few inside the home with Christmas decorations that have been done so far. Since most of the big stuff is done I hope to get started with pieces I have collected for some craft projects. Nothing difficult, or fancy, but should be fun.

I so Love Christmas, and enjoy everything I can do involving this holiday. Got another tube of glue, got a new cordless glue gun, some glue sticks, I need to go pick out some acrylic paint to use, get some sponges, and couple of brushes for me to have some fun. I hope I can do all I intend to do. I have enough things to keep me busy for a while. I’m excited, and hope everything comes out well. Yes, I will share all I can with you too.

I so hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving with everything you did. Different kind of year, and we’re all making the best of things that we can. I hope 2020 will end on a descent note with the Christmas season helping this too.

Thanks for visiting LilacsNDreams! See you all again soon. Be safe, and take care till the next time we can gather to converse. Toodles . . . .

Fall Thanksgiving Halloween Repurposed Upcycled DIY Tree

Fall Thanksgiving Halloween Repurposed Upcycled DIY Tree at LilacsNDreams.

Welcome everyone, and Happy Monday! So, how did your weekend go? Did everyone survive with all the festivities, trick or treating, etc? We had a blast here! Daughter, and grand daughter came for the night. We grilled early, and were ready for the trick or treating our town had. In the morning the kids were split in half alphabetically, and made their rounds in the downtown area. That night they started door to door trick or treating about 5:30 pm, and went till about 7:30 pm. Our house does not sit on a popular street, and it sits back that the garage blocks it 1 way. So, naturally we had all the lights on we could to show our presence. Watched a lot of kids, adults, parents, and had fun! We had a scarecrow, a spider, and a ghost that were all motion activated.

Scarecrow sat, held the candy bowl, and when you grabbed candy his head shot up with him moaning. The spider was kind of loud, and when you walked by he jumped out towards you. Quite a few liked the spider, played with him, and 1 person videotaped it being activated. Of course the ghost did his moaning, and groaning, and spoke a little. Most of the kids enjoyed it, and a few of the smaller ones that were intimidated we accompanied them by bringing a candy bowl down the stairs to them. We all sat on the porch talking, laughing, helping the kids out, and watching all the great costumes too!

Ok, this is my plunger tree I made which is quite seasonal to use. This is made from a plunger, bundled fall leaves, few loose leaves, brown burlap wrap for the tree trunk, and the base was filled with styrofoam to hold the tree base in place. Around that is some green moss, pumpkin, owl, mini scarecrow, few loose leaves. I did this for Halloween, am using it for Fall, and Thanksgiving too. Most of the supplies I got from the Dollar Tree, and a couple of items from Walmart. Done very inexpensively.

I’m excited for Christmas because I will be making about the same using red, and white poinsettias for the top. I have to decide between 3 colored ribbons I chose to wrap the trunk in.

Close up around the base a little.

With this last picture I turned most lights off to show the little glow it gives...better in person really.

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams! Enjoy the day, and be safe. Till the next time . . . Toodles!

Repurpose Restyle Upcycle Reimagine Vintage Letter Wood Blocks

Repurpose Restyle Upcycle Reimagine Vintage Letter Wood Blocks at LilacsNDreams

Hi there! Glad to have you dropping by. Repurpose Upcycle Reimagine Restyle is something you can do with so many things. Old, new, collectibles, and a little bit of everything can be left as is, or recreated with any of these steps. Below you will see I used some old vintage collectible letter wooden blocks. There are many different things you can do with them, and I chose what I did with them. I spelled a couple words with mine, Sewing and Quilt. Not only did I unite wooden blocks to spell these words, but I added some embellishments with them too. I used some vintage sewing spools with some having thread on them yet. I added some straight pins, safety pins, buttons, needles, etc. I used an industrial glue that dries clear, and does well bonding too. Both of these items are listed with my Etsy Shoppe. Visit to see more pictures, to purchase, or contact me at lilacsndreams@gmail.com and I would be happy to invoice you myself with PayPal. Contact me with any questions. I am happy to assist you.

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams, and hope to see you again soon. Till the next time take care, and be safe. Toodles . . . .

Halloween Craft Repurpose Upcycle Restyle Candles Black

Halloween Craft Repurpose Upcycle Restyle Candles Black at LilacsNDreams!

Hello, and Welcome to LilacsNDreams where I like to share vintage collectibles, repurposed treasures, a little upcycling and restyling, and of course some DIY handmade craft projects too.

Next weekend is Halloween already! Last weekend of the month, holiday season change, and more. Where did that time go, right? Things have been so gloomy this year of 2020 that I look forward to the upcoming seasons for some change, and the feel of the holiday spirits.

There are many crafts, and creations during this time. There are so many creative people sharing what they are doing so that others can try some of the same things. But, each piece is always unique because they are made with different hands that put their own special touch to things.

Candles are always great for many occasions, holidays, different seasons, and just because. They add a nice touch to many homes, and their decor. Below you will see pictures for the popular pool noodle candles that are being made. I had fun with these, and it was a learning experience for the next time too. I had 2 different sized noodles that I cut different sized candles with. Once I did that I next made sure I got holes made in the tops of them. A place that the tea light candle would set into. Then I spent time painting each piece black. Once that was all dried I then added a colored glittered glue that I had for these. I added the glue twice in the same places trying to get that melted wax look. It didn’t completely give me the look I was wanting. I might have needed a thicker, or better glue. Also, using a glue gun might have been a little bit better too.

So, I got that much done that I could then add my black tea light candles along with some little Halloween decorating. I used a bigger skull, smaller skulls, couple of bats, I found a single black rose to add in along with some white spider webbing too. I set this all into a simple distressed white tray with rope handles. Now, if I would have used a pizza pan painted black you might have seen things a little more clearly too.

This was fun, I enjoyed doing this, and would do it again! In fact, I’m already looking for a few more noodles, the colors I can find, and etc. I’m ready to make some candles for fall and Thanksgiving, and getting ready for Christmas too. It’s been a while, but I purchased a single candle from the store the other day. Wow! I didn’t realize how much those were costing now. So, doing what I’m doing making these is more cost efficient, I end up with a bundle, colors and sizes I want, how they’re decorated, and etc.

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams today!Hope I gave you some ideas for yourself with crafting, or maybe if you find a crafter who can offer their services to you for this too. Take care, and be safe out there everyone! Till the next time, Toodles . . . . . .

Halloween Decor House Decorating Tis The Season

Halloween Decor House Decorating Tis The Season with LilacsNDreams.

I truly like this time of year! The festivities, the gatherings, celebrations, decorating, and all the fun that
comes with it too. I know this year is gonna be different for many, but I intend to do the best I can to enjoy this time with family, and friends.

If I haven’t mentioned it already our son is home from the service after serving 8 years. Now, with that said I will also comment it’s been that long since he really enjoyed celebrating holidays too. So, this year will be good starting with Halloween. I will say it is nice to have someone here to help me a little more with some of this too.

Ok, all the pictures below here are from one side of the house front till the other. The last picture captures how it looks at night.

There are 2 items missing that will be added on Halloween night. Sitting by the door will be a scarecrow holding a bowl of candy with his head down. Now, when you reach for a candy his head pops up, and he gives you a slight scare with the noise he makes. Also, that night we’ll have the left part of the porch blocked that you can’t see on the porch. In that corner will be a sensored spider that jumps out at ya. We need him to be back in the corner so he doesn’t attack anyone...LOL!

Enjoying the season, and having fun too.

Thanks so much for visiting with LilacsNDreams! Have fun, be safe, and see you next time. Take care everyone! Toodles . . .
